Meet Alan

Alan Fernald is the founder of The Purpose-Driven Leader, a leadership coaching company that empowers rising and mid-career leaders to deepen their self-knowledge, express their purpose vision, and maximize their success and impact while delivering on their purpose.

Before founding The Purpose-Driven Leader, Alan refined his leadership acumen through a range of roles, from management consulting to electoral campaign leadership, to leading DEI work at large financial services companies.

During graduate school and in the early pandemic, Alan invested thousands of hours into refining his career strategy, professional development, and relationship-building approach. This background makes him well-suited to coach at the intersection of leadership coaching, career strategy, and life coaching.

Through this eclectic range of organizations, roles, and industries, Alan has coached and worked closely with impactful leaders who exemplify inclusive, purpose-driven leadership. Thanks to those leader relationships, Alan sees how there is often a gap in their growth planning today. They rise through the ranks through product, service, or operational expertise, often without a plan that centers their purpose vision and the growth work necessary to be as impactful as possible.

Alan founded The Purpose-Driven Leader to address this issue, the task of supporting leaders to align their passion, excellence, and purpose to become the effective leaders the world needs today.

Outside of The Purpose-Driven Leader, Alan loves to hike, read, exercise, play music, and play board games with friends. He also loves spending time with his family and friends in Maine and Minnesota.
